How to protect yourself
Most breeders on ZA Pup Market are honest, caring people. These checks are quick to do and help you spot the few who aren't.

Step 1: Make sure the breeder is trustworthy and verifiable
Ask questions and look for a breeder who’s open and easy to verify: happy to share the vet’s details, show you the puppies at home, and answer anything you ask. Be cautious of anyone hiding behind a bare WhatsApp number with no history.
Step 2: Video call before you pay anything
Insist on a live video call to see the puppies and their dam, and take a screenshot. Never buy a puppy sight-unseen. Borrowed photos are the oldest trick in the book.
Step 3: Meet the puppy in person
Visit the breeder yourself, or send someone you trust. Be wary of any excuse for why you can’t see the litter at home with the mother.
